Catholic advice? feeling depressed?

I've never resorted to talking to a web engine for help, but I don't know what to do. I keep picking earthly things over the Lord, and I'm too far gone. I don't respect myself anymore, I want to hurt myself all the time, just because I feel like I deserve a punishment. I am so stupid, and I don't have the strength to turn to God, I am ashamed of myself. How can I get back to God? How can he help me see things for what they are, how can I get back on the right track?Catholic advice? feeling depressed?
well... pick the earthly things that jesus would pick ... go donate your time at the local soup kitchen, food bank, homeless shelter, etc...Catholic advice? feeling depressed?
people need to be careful of what they say about Catholicism, they don't know if their religion is the one that's wrong! anyways, go to confession, ask God to give you the strength to endure, the will power to resist, and the wisdom to know the difference. No matter what God has never left your side and he will always be waiting for you with open arms. Be bold to say 3 word to let God know your serious, just say ';Lord i believe'; everyday. Pray and let him know where you stand. I hope you become better. =)

God Bless!
Catholicism is not Christian---I can not believe all the hog-wash on the internet. Of course it is a christian faith. Being a christian does Not make one perfect--we still have occasion to sin, put earthly things over spiritual things. Thank God He is loving and kind and true to His word. He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and believe upon Him. All you have to do is sincerely ask for his forgiveness and He reaches out toward us.

Of course you can have a personal relationship with God---doesn't matter if you're baptist, pentecost, or catholic.God does not believe you are too far gone.

Things you can do: Choose your friends wisely---the wrong crowd will pull you down to their level, attend church whenever you can, read your Bible more, and pray more.God bless you
None of us are perfect and fail our selves and the Lord much of the time. You sound as if you have the disease called scrupulosity. This is a very materialistic word we live in and many religious kooks that will tell you all you have to do is read the Bible and listen to their twisted view of Gods love. My advice is seek out a Good Priest and as a Catholic you should know we have our Heavenly Mothers aid awaiting us.
1. Go to Confession.

2. Go to Mass, every day if possible.

3. Learn the Chaplet of Divine Mercy (free online) and pray it every day. If you don't have a Rosary, you can use your fingers.

4. Fill at least some of your freetime by helping others. Get involved in a program you believe in, whether it's serving in a soup kitchen, volunteering at the St. Vincenet de Paul thrift store, visiting shut-ins/elderly people in your parish, getting involved with the pro-life movement, etc. The more you take your eyes (and wallet) off yourself, the stronger you will become.

YOU ARE ****NOT**** TOO FAR GONE!

Praying for you today...
The very fact that you can see your problems proves that you are NOT ';too far gone';. Allow yourself to be less than perfect and accept that you will always fall short of what we ought to be. Despair is one of satan's greatest weapons - never ever think you are beyond God's help.

Nothing you ever do will ever put you beyond His mercy.
Luckily for you Jesus is not as tough of a judge as you are. You cannot slide too far away, HE will always reach out to you if you reach out to HIM. He can help you with that sin thing too. Usually slef-control comes through understanding the sins

Ask Him to help you
go to confession, and don't hold anything back. the depression you are feeling is from guilt and shame. tell the priest all of your fears. clear your concise.
Go to confession and speak with your priest. I know I always feel so much better after confession and speaking with my priest. He helps me to put things in to perspective.
is it possible that maybe you werent ment to follow god in the first place?

and that god just isnt for you?
I find Yahoo Answers really helps actually.

Music?
God has the strength to bring you to him. Empty your heart and ask him.

Remember: Jesus loves you.
There are several factors at work in a person's spiritual path.

1) positive and negative forces

which

2) reside either within you or are outer influences

Trying to alleviate our depression has to take work, and not just spiritual work. Our bodies are important, and affect our mental function, so make sure you are having a well-balanced diet, fresh air and enough exercise.

Then we talk spiritual things.

Do not get discouraged when you read about how strict some of the lives of the saints were. They had enormous graces from God and were constantly within His favor. Some of us are only little, and faith should never be a burden, but make you feel free and at peace.

Do not carry guilt around, but as soon as you feel as if you erred, turn to Him and sincerely ask forgiveness. For venial sins, this is all we have to do.

The world surrounds us all. Sometimes yes, we have a great need to get away from it, and so, take that path. Electronic things tend to suck our energy. Flowing water revitalizes us.

The mere fact that you recognize ';picking earthly things over the Lord'; is not the right thing to do proves that you're not 'too far gone'.

%26lt;%26lt;I don't respect myself anymore, I want to hurt myself all the time, just because I feel like I deserve a punishment.%26gt;%26gt;

Truth is, NONE OF US are ';worthy';; we are sinners.

The ONLY reason we stand a chance at winning the race is through God's Good Graces.

Now, we are supposed to love ourselves FIRST. After all, if we can't bring ourselves to love ourselves, we certainly have no love to share with others. We have to love ourselves first so that we can Love our Neighbor. It's through acts of loving thy neighbor that we express our love for God.

%26lt;%26lt;I am so stupid, and I don't have the strength to turn to God, I am ashamed of myself.%26gt;%26gt;

Salvation is not necessarily a game of intellect. Intellect helps, but God merely asks us to have FAITH in Him. Even the legitimately ';stupid'; can do that, but you're problem isn't stupidity.

You can't Fight the Good Fight without God's Help. I guess that's not entirely true. You 'could' try to Fight the Good Fight - but you stand NO CHANCE at winning UNLESS you call upon God for Help.

Are you currently asking God for help, or are you not because you feel too ashamed? The best way to approach God and ask for help is from a position of humility, not arrogance.

%26lt;%26lt;How can I get back to God?%26gt;%26gt;

Just go! Start praying and pray without ceasing. Ask God to give you whatever it takes for you to Fight the Good Fight.

%26lt;%26lt; How can he help me see things for what they are, how can I get back on the right track?%26gt;%26gt;

With God all things are possible. You need not fear.
I'd recommend praying the rosary regularly. It's definitely changed my life. See the following wonderful promises.

The rosary is explained here:

http://www.sancta.org/rosary/how.html

The fifteen promises of Mary to Christians who recite the rosary:

1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary shall receive signal graces.

2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.

3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armor against Hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will withdraw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall not perish.

6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly, applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries, shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just, he shall remain in the grace of God and become worthy of eternal life.

7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the Sacraments of the Church.

8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death, they shall participate in the merits of the saints in Paradise.

9. I shall deliver from Purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.

10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.

11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.

12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

13. I have obtained from my Divine Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire Celestial Court during their life and at the hour of death.

14. All who recite the Rosary are my sons, and brothers of my only Son, Jesus Christ.

15. Devotion to my Rosary is a great sign of predestination

God bless!

Dave
I don't know you but perhaps, just maybe, you're a victim of Catholicism. It's not uncommon for a religion, such as the Catholic church, which is built on a foundation of fear and guilt, to make people a bit crazy.

Try to imagine life without the Catholic priests telling you that you deserve to be punished and that only their mumbo-jumbo can save you. It's an evil scam. Unshackle yourself from the priests.

If that doesn't work ask your doctor about Cymbalta.
You're having problems, because catholicism keeps you away from God.

Jesus is God, and Jesus loves you so very much! :D Jesus wants a PERSONAL relationship with you. But catholicism stops that from happening, which is why you need to leave catholicism.

Catholicism is not Christian. Catholicism teaches a false gospel of works that leads to eternal torment in hell (Galatians 1:6-9).

It's clear from the Book of Acts in the Bible that catholics didn't even exist during the days of Acts. Those in the Book of Acts are the first Christians, and they believed what would be called fundamentalist doctrine today. ANYONE can read the Book of Acts for themselves and see. Had catholicism existed during the time of Acts, the first Christians would have rejected catholicism completely.

Also here's Christians that called the ';pope'; the antichrist, and who also completely rejected catholicism, long before Martin Luther was even born:

c. 1310

Dante Alighieri

c. 1331

Michael of Cesena

c. 1345

Johannes de Rupescissa

c. 1350

Francesco Petrarch

c. 1367

John Milicz

c. 1379

John Wycliffe

c. 1388

Matthias of Janow

c. 1389

R. Wimbledon

c. 1390

John Purvey

c. 1393

Walter Brute

c. 1412

John Huss

c. 1497

Girolamo Savonarola

So not only is it false to say that ';catholics were the first Christians';, but this list blows away the catholic claim that ';no churches existed other than the catholic church, until Martin Luther';.

There were ALWAYS saved believers outside the catholic cult, who knew catholicism cannot save anyone.

Catholicism cannot save. Only believing in Jesus alone for salvation, is what saves.

The truth about Jesus is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal hell, is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross as FULL PAYMENT for all our sins, and then Jesus rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you will be in heaven, no matter what! Salvation is a FREE GIFT that happens in a split second when you believe in Jesus alone to save you! It is impossible to lose or ';leave'; salvation (John 6:39-40, 1 John 5:13).

Please pray now: ';Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!'; You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)
