Going from private catholic all girl school to inner city public, advice?

Anyone have any good advice on...well, anything really. Ive been in uniform my whole life, so im not sure what to wear...ive never had to worry about it. I really don't want to be labeled as anything. I know everyone says ';just be yourself, tess'; but i can be very shy sometimes. I just want to meet a lot of people and make good friends. Im into theatre, and im not very popular where i go to school now, but i really want to do well at this new school (it has a very tough rep, gangs and stuff). so yeah, any advice would be lovely. (ps. im going in as a junior, not a freshman)Going from private catholic all girl school to inner city public, advice?
Well! I went to catholic school for 12 yrs. 4 yrs. in a private catholic school. My sister only made it through her freshmen year in Catholic school and went to public school in softmore yr. She really liked public school and she was used to private school. She said, that she wished she went to public school yrs. back. I don't think you'll have any problems. Enjoy the freedom.Going from private catholic all girl school to inner city public, advice?
Wear comfortable jeans and shoes, any top that does not show too much skin but can accentuate your figure if you have one, and nothing in your hair.

Keep your hair simple but not necessarily plain.

Talk to anyone you want but be aware of them and yourself. If anyone seems hostile just smile and excuse yourself. Whatever you do, do not show fear.

Follow those tips and you'll be fine. If you don't you'll probably still be fine.
You don't know how to dress up and be yourself and not be in those uniforms?
If you're a Catholic, please carry you faith with you no matter what school you find yourself in. You can be Catholic and still meet a lot of people and make, you said it, ';good friends.'; You don't need friends that's in gangs or the ones looking for trouble. Do not lower yourself to the level of their [gang] understanding.

Pray and ask the Hold Mother of Concern (the Virgin Mary) to pray for you, to the Lord our God, as you begin your study at a new school.

One thing about us Catholics is that we have Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the angels, and all the saints looking out for us. :-))

Say your Hail Marys and you'll be find.
