Peace mate,

Being Orthodox I have to start by giving you these couple of sites about the differences between our two branches of The Church:

http://www.ocf.org/OrthodoxPage/reading/…

http://www.ocf.org/OrthodoxPage/reading/…

(Please note that thse sites are Eastern Orthdox sites whereas I am Oriental Orthodox.)

Here's a link to The Holy Bible (Douay-Rheims):

http://www.drbo.org/

This site USED TO be great but they've gone down for some months now:

http://www.catholicapologetics.net/

(IF ANYONE KNOWS what happened to that site just mentioned and/or if they have a new URL could you please let me know. Thank you.)

This site is fantastic (but slow on dial-up):

http://www.catholicapologetics.info/

Here are some other very wonderful sites (in order of which I like best):

http://www.scripturecatholic.com/

http://www.cwo.com/~pentrack/catholic/ap…

http://www.catholicapologetics.org/

http://www.catholic.com/

Here's one I just found that I don't know anything about because it's slow to load but it looks theological:

http://www.catholicintl.com/

Here's a site on where to find references to the Deuterocanonical Books in the New Testament:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/religi…

Here's one on the History of Christmas:

http://www.tldm.org/Christmas/Christmas_…

Seems you said you're converting perhaps the best place to start would be:

http://fisheaters.com/beingcatholic.html

This site is especially for converts.

Hope that helps and pray for me please.Im am converting to being Catholic, can any Catholics give me advice?
I'm so happy! You made my day. I'm a Catholic too. My advice is try to get involved. As much as you can. I have a friend who converted, and now he's in the seminary. I'm not saying that you'll become a priest (but there's no problem with it, if you want to) but that converts seem to have stronger faith than people who were born with it. I'm generalizing here though. Pray alot. If you are in high school then check out lifeteen. If you are in College, check out FOCUS. (I don't remember what it means but the C means Catholic). Get a bible, get a catechism. The Catchesim is great. Its like a ';how to'; type book, or ';Catholics for Dummies.'; I don't know if that book exists, but it should. God bless you.
Go to Mass. There's a lot of stuff at the church for you...brochures, a library of material, organizations. There's probably a bible study for the summer. But at Mass, you just get a feeling for what's going on. Watch carefully during the consecration, listen to what the priest says, read along.

There are some great books to help you too. There's Catholicism for Dummies. Very helpful in an introductory way. Jimmy Akin's written a book about Mass that really helps make it clear. Check out Catholic.com for facts about Catholicism. The apologists there are experts and will help you learn what we really believe.

We're glad to meet you.
Please ignore the anti Catholics

Welcome and God bless you
First of all I congratulate you on taking the first step in your journey that will bring you home, it is much better that you pluck up the courage and speak to the Parish Priest nearest your home as you can then be sure of getting the correct advice.

Meanwhile here are some good sites to assist you;

I mean it.

*Ethan's such a wus. *rolls eyes
get ready to do alot of sitting, kneeling and standing up. my advice wait until everyone else does it so u dont look stupid doing the wrong one.
Go to catholic.com web site. It is an excellent place to start to learn about the faith and answer many of your questions.
Welcome home...:)
You can start with the Catholic section on Beliefnet.com.
im muslim. Still I supporet you.
I am sure you mean well, but don't expect much. If you must explore the teachings of Catholicism do so with an open mind and pray to God that He show you how false this so called Christian church is. God will never steer you into darkness. Only to the light. And Jesus is that Light. In him is salvation, and in none other. Hope this helps. A word of advice. Flee Catholicism like it is the plague.
Don't go, please, don't ever, ever go...
run for the hills
